Dual adjustable mattresses are basically a split king size or queen size mattress. Since the mattress is split, it allows one to control the firmness of each side of the bed as per the choice of the person sleeping on that side of the bed.
Adjustable mattresses are normally air beds which means instead of using the springs in the mattress to create flexible supporting surface, the mattress is filled with air. The design of the adjustable air mattress prevents the mattress from becoming a balloon like shape! From the looks, an adjustable air mattress may look similar to any spring mattress.
However, if you are used to sleeping on a spring mattress, you would take some time to adjust to the feel of the air mattress. The air mattresses are made up of rubber so that they can be inflated to the shape of a mattress. The rubber is then further lined with foam and covers to give the mattress the shape, strength and the look and feel of a conventional mattress.
When you change the pressure of the air inside the mattress, you can effectively change the firmness. A higher air pressure results in a more firm mattress and vice versa. The dual adjustable air mattresses have controls to change the pressure on each side of the bed by using a small remote kind of a control.
Since there are no springs, as in the conventional mattresses, in the adjustable air mattresses, there are no pressure points that can cause muscle pains while sleeping. This is another advantage of using an adjustable air mattress.
Now, you might find very cheap versions of air mattresses in the retail stores. Those air mattresses are good only for an occasional or outdoor use sometimes. Since those air mattresses are simply bags of air, they do not often have firm edges. If you happen to roll towards the edge, instead of protecting you from falling, the edge of the cheap mattresses caves in as the air is pushed towards the interior. Therefore, the edge collapses and makes you fall to the ground! The air mattresses that are used for daily use in the bedroom are costlier, and of much better quality.
